Prince’s estate tell President Trump to stop using Purple Rain at rallies

Members of Prince’s estate are furious at Donald Trump’s use of Purple Rain during rallies in the US and early put out a statement reading “The Prince Estate has never given permission to President Trump or the White House to use Prince’s songs and have requested that they cease all use immediately.”

“The Prince Estate has never given permission to President Trump or the White House to use Prince’s songs and have requested that they cease all use immediately”

The message was reportedly sent on behalf of the estate by longtime Prince associate Jeremiah Freed, and it was retweeted by Prince’s brother, Omarr Baker. It was sent in reaction to the Trump rally in Mississippi last week.

Prince was known for being politically neutral during his life and was notorious for issuing cease and desist orders against anyone using his music without authorisation. The Prince’s estate joins REM, Adele, The Rolling Stones, Neil Young and Aerosmith in calling on Trump to stop using their music.
