SoundCloud Premier

Soundcloud have trumped Spotify’s recent “direct upload” by allowing monetisation of artist’s uploaded music.

SoundCloud Premier was previously an invite-only platform but this week they opened up the system to Pro users giving tens of thousands of artists the ability to monetise via a cut in the platform’s subscriber and ad revenue.

“Expanding SoundCloud Premier’s direct monetization offering from thousands to hundreds of thousands of eligible creators is an exciting step in our commitment to empowering as many creators as possible to grow their careers first on SoundCloud.” said Kerry Trainor, Chief Executive Officer, SoundCloud.

The service offers independent artists “leading revenue share” and they claim “SoundCloud meets or beats any other streaming service”. Creators will also be paid directly each month.

To qualify at artist needs to have more than 5000 plays in the past month fro countries that allow subscribers to sign up – Currently US, UK, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands and New Zealand.
